This five-day, 40-hour, course is intended for contractors and supervisors of abatement projects and response actions. It covers in detail the work practices, abatement procedures, personal protection, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations that a contractor/supervisor must consider before beginning to design or supervise abatement work. Along with other topics, the course examines insurance, bonding, contract specifications, health effects of asbestos, abatement methods, small-scale/short-duration operations, building containment areas, negative-pressure enclosures, decontamination, and glovebag use. Completion of this course certifies the individual in removal, encapsulation and enclosure of asbestos-containing materials and meets the training requirements for licensing as an abatement supervisor.
