Benjamin A. La Turco is a safety professional and retired City of Tucson veteran with over three decades of dedicated public service. He most recently spent 5 years as a Safety and Environmental Compliance Specialist, where he served as the primary architect for the City’s safety training curriculum and master calendar. In this capacity, he acted as a strategic liaison between Risk Management and Human Resources, ensuring strict OSHA 1910 compliance. His leadership was defined by a hands-on approach to risk mitigation, including conducting thorough incident investigations and delivering specialized training in Respirator Fit Testing, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), De-escalation, Forklift Operations, and Hot Work safety.
This expertise was built upon a formidable 26-year career with Tucson Water, where Benjamin served as a Utility Technician Supervisor and Senior Maintenance Mechanic. During his tenure in water infrastructure, he was a consistent champion for workplace safety, leading 5-Star safety inspections at production facilities, serving as an Area Safety Representative, and mentoring incoming technicians on hazardous materials and safety protocols related to utility excavation and construction.
