Armando Rico has been an Environmental Health and Safety professional for almost 40 years. He started his working life in 1983 in the navy working with hazardous materials. Armando worked as a Search and Rescue swimmer, and HazMat Specialist and maintained a flight deck duty billet. He spent 6 years in the US Navy on the USS Carl Vinson CVN-70. After leaving the Navy Armando worked for Flowing Wells Fire Department in Tucson. He became a Firefighter I & II, Wildland Firefighter, Paramedic, and Hazardous Materials Specialist.
Armando started his professional work in Austin Texas working for Texas Instruments. He was promoted and moved from Austin to Richardson and finally to Dallas. He worked for the defense programs of Texas Instruments and was sold to Raytheon in a corporate sale of the entire Texas Instruments Defense Programs. Eventually, all of those programs were moved to Tucson where Armando was once again back at home in Tucson.
Armando has worked for a variety of manufacturing companies producing solar panel farms, structural steel fabrication, vertical turbine pumps, fire security systems, bombs and missiles, weapon systems, semiconductors, electronics, and calculators. Armando has worked in every facet of environmental health and safety, fire safety, emergency response, and regulatory compliance. The extensive history and experiences give Armando an edge in the compliance training fields and provide students with real-world accounts of event, incident, and issues faced today.
